High x Design

In 2015, recreational marijuana was legalized in four US states and the District of Columbia, decriminalized in many states, and approved for medical use in several more. At least five states will be voting on it this November, with more pulling together legislation. It seems likely that at some point in the future, marijuana will be legalized in many parts of the country, if not the world.

We think the progressive legalization of marijuana around the world makes for a really interesting design discussion - how do you move something that was once illegal into a household friendly product? What are the design challenges of a legal, recreational drug? Are blacklight posters, reggae music, and smoky lounges the pinnacle of marijuana experience design? In this special Designers + Geeks, we'll hear from some of the companies leading the design of legal marijuana products and services.
